About the provider
Is the provider State licensed?
Is there a state license posted near the daycare entrance?
How long has the provider been in business?
Is there training in first aid and CPR?
What are the hours of operation for the center?
Does the facility have scheduled vacations and are you charged for them?
What holidays are observed?
Is before and after school care offered?
Is there a late fee?
What kind of meals are provided?
What kind of discipline is used when a child misbehaves?
Is the provider trained in Early Childhood development through a college or university and do they participate in CDA?
Is there a waiting list?
Does the provider have a written child care contract to give you? A philosophy?
Does the provider call each child by his/her names?
Does the provider get down on the child's level to speak and play with them?
Why does the provider work with children?
Is the center child friendly and inviting?
What kind of correspondence is provided for parents to keep up with a child's progress?
About the children
How many children are enrolled and what are their ages?
Do the children seem happy and content and involved in activities?
Do the children nap, for how long and where?
Are they helped with potty training?
Is there a daily schedule followed with the children?
